Hyundai Genesis: AVN System / Steering Wheel Remote Controller (SWRC) Repair procedures

Inspection

Steering Wheel Remote Control system (SWRC) can be diagnosed by GDS because it receives and sends signals through CAN communication.

1.	Check for resistance between terminals in each switch position(LH). [Audio] Switch Connector terminal Resistance (±5%) Speech Recognition 6~8 18.81k? SEEK UP 6~8 4.51k? SEEK DN 6~8 2.11k? Mode 6~8 6.71k? SEND 6~8 430? END 6~8 1.11k? MUTE 1~8 0 VOL UP 2~3 - VOL DN 2~3 -

2.	Check for resistance between terminals in each switch position(RH). [Cruise] Switch Connector terminal Resistance (±5%) CANCEL 2~3 180? RES+ 2~3 550? SET- 2~3 330? Cruise ON/OFF 2~3 880? Space betweencars 2~3 2.54k?

In the body electrical system, failure can be quickly diagnosed by using the vehicle diagnostic system (GDS). The diagnostic system(GDS) provides the following information. (1) Self diagnosis : Checking failure and code number (DTC) (2) Current data : Checking the system input/output data state (3) Actuation test : Checking the system operation condition (4) Additional function : Controlling other features including system option setting and zero point adjustment

2.	Select the 'Car model' and the steering wheel remote control system (SWRC) to be checked in order to check the vehicle with the tester.

3.	Select the 'Current Data' menu to search the current state of the input/output data.

4.	To forcibly actuate the input value of the module to be checked, select option 'Actuation Test'

Removal

1.	Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

2.	Remove the driver airbag module. (Refer to Restraint - "Driver Airbag (DAB) Module and Clock Spring")

3.	Remove the screws from the steering cover.

4.	Remove the steering back cover(A).

5.	Remove the steering remote control connector(A).

6.	Loosen the screws and remove the steering remote control (A).

Installation

1.	Install the steering wheel remote control after connecting the connector.

2.	Install the cover and driver airbag module.

3.	Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.
