Hyundai Genesis (DH): Motor Driven Power Steering / Steering Gear box Repair procedures
| 1. |
Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported. |
| 2. |
Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub. 
|
Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire. |
|
| 3. |
Remove the under cover (A), (B). 
|
| 4. |
Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.

Remove the split pin. |
| (2) |
Remove the castle nut. |
| (3) |
Disconnect the ball joint (A) from knuckle (B) using the special tool (09568-2J100).
Tightening torque :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

| 5. |
Unscrew the steering column bolt (A) to disconnect the universal joint and steering gear connection.
Tightening torque :
32.4 ~ 37.3N.m (3.3 ~ 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 ~ 27.5lb-ft)

Do not reuse the universal joint bolt, Be sure to install a new one. |
|
| 6. |
Disconnect the connector (A) and then loosen the gear box mounting bolts.
Tightening torque :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

Be careful not to damage the ECU when removing steering gear box. |

Remove the under cover (A), (B). 
|
| 4. |
Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.

Remove the split pin. |

Remove the castle nut. |
| (3) |
Disconnect the ball joint (A) from knuckle (B) using the special tool (09568-2J100).
Tightening torque :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

Unscrew the steering column bolt (A) to disconnect the universal joint and steering gear connection.
Tightening torque :
32.4 ~ 37.3 N.m (3.3 ~ 3.8 kgf.m, 23.9 ~ 27.5 lb-ft)

Do not reuse the universal joint bolt, Be sure to install a new one. |

Disconnect the connector (A). 
|
| 7. |
Loosen the gear box mounting bolts.
Tightening torque :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

Be careful not to damage to the ECU when removing steering gear box.

Install in the reverse order of removal. |
| 2. |
Check the alignment.

EPS Specification Recognition
Precautions when performing the EPS specification recognition procedure:

Other information:
Inspection
1.
Ignition "ON".
2.
Turn on the head lamp switch.
3.
Check that the aim of the head lamp changes smoothly when the head lamp leveling device switch is turned on.
4.
If it does not operate well, check the connector and terminals to make sure that they are connected.
Inspection
1.
Press the MODE switch more than 4 times within 2 seconds while pressing the OFF switch.

Replacement

Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
