    Refrigerant System Service Basics Refrigerant Recovery Use only service equipment that is U.L-listed and is certified to meet the requirements of SAE J2210 to remove HFC-134a(R-134a) from the air conditioning system.

    Oil Specification 1. The HFC-134a system requires synthetic (PAG) compressor oil whereas the R-12 system requires mineral compressor oil. The two oils must never be mixed.

    Removal 1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. 2. Remove the trunk lid panel. (Refer to Body - "Trunk Lid Back Panel") 3. Remove the license lamp after disengaging the license lamp mounting clip (A) 4. Remove the license lamp assembly after disconnecting the license connector (A).

    Inspection 1. Check the condenser fins for clogging and damage. If they are clogged, clean them with water, and blow them with compressed air. If they are bent, gently bend them using a screwdriver or pliers. 2. Check the condenser connections for leakage, and repair or replace it, if required.
